Gamblers in New Jersey rejoiced when online sports betting became legal in the state in 2018 and digital betting platforms have exploded since. NJ online gambling sites that are powered by Atlantic City casinos have been legal since 2013 but sports betting became legalized in 2018 after a Supreme Court decision struck down a federal ban on sports betting outside of Nevada. In the first six months, some of the biggest names in the industry jumped into the fray and more than a half-dozen NJ online gambling platforms now have online sportsbooks.

CEO, Sam Swannell, shared that the company had exceeded expectations as it was aiming for a 10% online handle in New Jersey.

Along with online casinos that offer games like poker, blackjack, and roulette, at least eight NJ gambling sites now offer sports betting. Players can not only bet on the outcomes of games but also make side bets on individual events and performances, like how many touchdowns a quarterback will throw.

Under the state’s law, companies must have a physical sportsbook to launch an online sports betting platform. Six Atlantic City casinos and two race tracks have formed partnerships with companies like FanDuel and DraftKings to launch their web offerings.
